Why We Do What We Do
I am Sergio Mariaca and I founded Mariaca Wealth Management to give families a more thoughtful, transparent, and coordinated way to manage significant wealth.
My perspective was shaped by my own family’s experience. I grew up in Puerto Rico with parents who were successful entrepreneurs. They taught me the value of hard work, perseverance, family, and financial independence. They also taught me how quickly life can change.
Shortly after my parents retired, my father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The financial and emotional strain that followed showed me how important it is for families to have clear planning, trusted guidance, and coordinated advice before difficult moments arrive.
That experience changed the direction of my life.
I came to believe that wealth management should be about much more than investments. It should help families prepare for uncertainty, protect what they have built, make better decisions, and coordinate the many moving parts of their financial lives.
Today, I am proud to follow in my parents’ footsteps as an entrepreneur. I am grateful to love what I do, and I especially enjoy helping clients find thoughtful, creative, and effective solutions for the unique situations they face.
The trust our clients place in us is not lost on me. It is one of the reasons I continue to invest significant time in advanced planning education, professional development, and relationships with experienced professionals across tax, law, insurance, estate planning, business planning, philanthropy, and family office services.
Through advanced planning mastermind groups, coaching communities, and professional relationships with advisors who serve complex families, we continue to expand the knowledge and resources available to our clients. These relationships help us think more creatively, ask better questions, recognize planning opportunities, and, when appropriate, bring additional independent expertise into the conversation.
That is why our work is built around a fiduciary, fee-only advisory model and a broader Virtual Family Office approach. We help families organize complexity, coordinate with their existing tax and legal advisors, and, when appropriate, identify independent specialists for more advanced planning needs.
We are not trying to be the biggest firm. We are committed to doing excellent work for the people who have trusted us with their financial lives — including the long-standing clients who helped build our firm from the beginning.
Bottom line: we help our clients simplify complexity, make better decisions, and steward their wealth with greater purpose and confidence.

What Guides Our Advice
Fiduciary Alignment
As a fee-only fiduciary advisory firm with CEFEX certification, our structure is designed to reduce many of the conflicts commonly associated with commissions, proprietary products, and transaction-based advice. We believe clients deserve clear communication, transparent fees, and recommendations informed by evidence, shaped by their goals, and guided by what we believe is in their best interest.
Strategic Clarity
Significant wealth brings complexity. We help clients bring order to the many dimensions of their financial lives — investment strategy, tax planning, estate coordination, risk management, philanthropy, business interests, and family priorities — so decisions can be made with greater clarity and confidence.
Proactive Stewardship
Wealth management is not static. Life changes, markets change, laws change, and families evolve. Our role is to remain engaged, anticipate planning opportunities, coordinate with outside professionals, and help families make thoughtful decisions across generations.
Coordinated Advice for Complex Wealth
Significant wealth requires more than a single perspective. It often requires coordinated thinking across investments, tax planning, estate planning, risk management, business interests, philanthropy, and family priorities.
At Mariaca Wealth Management, we serve as a central advisory hub, helping clients organize the many moving parts of their financial lives. In most cases, we begin by working closely with the CPAs, attorneys, insurance professionals, and business advisors our clients already know and trust. Our role is not to replace those relationships, but to help connect the dots, improve coordination, and keep the planning process moving in the same direction.
When a situation calls for additional expertise, our open-architecture approach gives us the flexibility to help identify and coordinate with independent specialists suited to the specific planning need. This allows clients to preserve valued professional relationships while adding specialized expertise when appropriate.
The result is a more integrated advisory experience: your existing advisors better coordinated, additional expertise brought in when needed, and your wealth strategy organized around your family, your goals, and the responsibilities that come with significant wealth.
Mariaca Wealth Management does not provide legal or tax advice. We coordinate with clients’ attorneys, CPAs, and other professionals as part of the planning process. Independent professionals are not employees or representatives of Mariaca Wealth Management unless otherwise disclosed. Mariaca Wealth Management does not receive compensation for referrals to outside professionals.
